I just got an email from the fashion department at my school about this new social networking site, Fashion Students (part of the Ning network, and a product of Style Careers, both very cool/ helpful sites)

Check it out! If you’re a fashion student, join! And talk to me! Haha!
Here’s my profile. Boring right now, I know. I haven’t figured out what I should put on it yet :/

Yah for fashion networking sites! ;)

Dupont Circle   Add as Favorite Photo

Today my good friend Kathy and I went to Dupont circle in DC and went to some pretty cool Museums. The first museum we went to was the Textile Museum. Pretty small, but very interesting. The first floor had an exhibit dedicated to Indigo dyes, and the second floor housed an exhibit about various textiles from Bolivia/ South American. If you’re in DC, I suggest you check it out. It’s located in the middle of a bunch of embassies (we saw Chad’s and Costa Rica’s). Kinda weird, but cool. The embassies are so gorgeous. The whole Dupont area of DC is pretty sweet.

Next Museum we went to was the Philips Collection. They have an impressive collection of paintings, including some works by Monet, O’Keefe, Picasso, Degas, and Van Gogh! I was very pleased with this one.

After we went to these museums, we walked around today. Today was absolutely gorgeous. It wasn’t humid and there was a breeze! This is a pretty rare kind of day in August around these parts.

Pic # 1: We were walking to the Textile Museum and came across this gorgeous house with this random Panda Scupture. This is my WTF face.

Pic # 2 and 3: I’m sitting in front of the fountain in THE circle of Dupont Circle. It’s pretty.

Yah! Today was a swell day:)

I’ve just heard some great news! Apparently, Alexander Wang is devoloping a shoe line AND an “affordable” diffusion line! I can’t wait to see what he comes up with! If It’s anything like his main line and that collaboration he did with Uniqlo, I will scream (with delight, of course).

From New York Magazine’s blog, The Cut:
”...Wang’s got a new lower-priced label in the works, which is actually a line of tees, starting at $28 wholesale for a tank top and $40 for a T-shirt dress. Called T by Alexander Wang, it includes twelve styles in colors like white, gray, lavender, chartreuse, and cerulean. Wang told WWD, “Necklines are stretched and armholes are strategically lowered so that it looks worn in … It’s like sleeping in a T-shirt and then wearing it the next day. It’s not this crisp little T out of the dryer. It’s draped and kind of wilted.” We can’t remember the last time we felt excited about T-shirts, but lo — now we are.”

I like the color scheme, but something tells me that those prices are too good to be true (well, not really great, but awesome compared to what his main line costs), amirite?? I can dream…

As for his foray into shoes:
“[Wang] is launching just five styles of shoes for his first collection, priced at $125 to $250. The shoes, which he mentioned back in May, will include open-toed platforms with a sky-high heel and thong to “make it more provocative,” Wang told WWD. There’s also a perforated-leather bootie and a heel with fringe around the ankle.”

Sounds like an excellent start to me. I like how he’s branching out but I hope he doesn’t get too commercial. He still has an edge while remaining quite popular. I think he’ll be around for quite some time.

... The 90s are making a comeback. It’s a fact, fashion repeats itself (I even learned this in school, no joke!).

I just saw The Wackness. I’ve been wanting to see this movie foreveerrr and now I’m just a liiittle let down. It wasn’t as good as I thought it would be, but on the bright side, the soundtrack is amazing. I love old school rap (basically, hip hop before biggie and tupac died). Would you ever guess? Most people are surprised by my knowledge of [real] hip hop. :)

The movie takes place in NYC in the summer of ‘94. I don’t know how accurate it was, since I was only 5, but overall, I enjoyed it. I recommend it.

Chictopia has inspired me to try some new things. I’ve seen some of you guys wear Doc Martens in so many creative ways. They’re a bit clunky, but I kind of really sort of want them now! Hehe :P I think that they can be rather versatile.

I really want to pair them with some tights and a floral skirt, much like the one I’ve posted from Urban Outfitters, and a white tee. I just bought this great v-neck pocket tee from the Gap today. It’s so soft and has just the right amount of sheerness. Yah!

Maybe starring in a movie set in the 90s has influenced Mary Kate’s recent clothing choices. The Olsens are almost always the first to test out new trends. Not sure if the flannel tied around the waist will catch on (again) with most people, but she totally pulls it off (in my eyes, anyway).

recent purchases, outfits soon   Add as Favorite Photo

It was tax free weekend this weekend here in Virginia, so I did a little shopping. I didn’t go wild, but I did pick up two tank tops from Go International: Richard Chai from Target. Unfortunately, the Target I went to didn’t really have alot in stock form this collection. One of my favorite colors to wear is royal blue, and I nearly peed myself when I saw that almost everything in this collection had at least some royal blue (exxagerating about the peeing here, that’s gross)

I also got a pair of strappy suede & canvas studded heels from Old Navy for under $20. These will transition well from summer to fall. I think they’ll look great with tights. Old Navy has stepped up their game, shoe-wise.

I want to post my outfits but the sad thing is, I haven’t worn anything interesting enough to post lately (sad I know). I’ve been in a fashion rut I guess :/

But you will be seeing some new outfits with these items soon, I hope. I can’t wait to wear this stuff!
