ready for winter in moscow (in my Oona coat)   Add as Favorite Photo

If you were waiting for me to answer the door and come outside, then peeking through my peephole you’d see me putting on my new coat…

When I tried this coat on and looked in the mirror I thought of little dolls with their double-breasted coats with poofy skirts and wool berets. At first, the more showy things were what captured my eye – the double-wide belt with gold belt holes, the concealed snap button double-breasted front, and the fluffy pleated skirt-like back.
But when I took it home, I really fell in love when I started to discover the smaller more personal details.

* White pinstriped lining in the sleeves, black and grey embroidered flowers embellishing the body lining, and black with cutout flowers in the skirt lining, with a gold velvet ribbon sewn in to separate the body and skirt linings.
* A sequined strip of fabric underneath the collar for hanging it on a coat hook.
* The unfinished edges on the bottom of the skirt that give it a more natural shape for the wool pleats. The tops of the wool pleats being exposed externally right above the belt in the back.
* A small felt pouch for spare buttons, adorned with a gold dragon embroidered patch and a jade button for holding the pouch closed, it hangs inside the right side of the coat from black silk cord and has little silk tassels hanging from it.

All-in-all not only was it love at first sight, but there was more to love as I got to know my new coat. Such a warm romance!
