faux friday Add as Favorite Photo

Today is my ‘friday’ for the week, because there is a public holiday tomorrow for a local show/fair thing that I will definitely not be attending. I will however, as long as the sun keeps shining, celebrate this long weekend ‘spring eve’ on the beach. Will catch up with my parents who are up for a couple of days, head to a little get together on Friday night for wood fired pizza + drinks + definitely make the most of this blessing that is a long weekend!
Today I had to get ready in record time to take the boy to work first, so I thought I may as well wear one of my fave dresses! All I need is the dress, a slip, a jacket + the usual tan accessories. Simple + sweet, gotta love it! I will soon be saying farewell to my warm coats for another year + it is not a moment too soon.
Heading out to a teppanyaki restaurant tonight with my mum, dad + the lovely boy – so will try + take a nighttime photo to share! Found a really sweet cream silk top this week, in a 70’s butterfly sleeve style with a lace/crochet cut out section at the top, it’s so beautiful! Plan on wearing it tonight with jeans + some hot heels. Looking forward to some vodka, lime + soda and catching up with my folks who since January have moved over 5 hours away! (My mum is so cute + checks my blog regularly. When I didn’t post for a week or so there after getting sick from Splendour, I had her worried + on the phone telling me the exact date of my last post! She’s the cutest little thing ever!)

running late Add as Favorite Photo

The sun rising earlier is throwing me all out of wack at the moment, resulting in me running late for work this morning. I’m not really a watch/clock person + have pretty good instincts about the time (ie: I can usually trust my body to wake up on time in the mornings), but today I felt like I lost 20 minutes somewhere!
Anyway, I still felt like posting today, so the boy took a couple of quick happy snaps around the corner from my work. At 7.30am it’s already beautifully sunny + warm, so all I needed today was this light cardi. Yay, spring is almost here!!
I’ve probably worn this outfit before, ahh well, I love all these pieces so why not?! My hair is in desperate need of a wash so it’s up today. I’ll probably have to wear it up alot more once it gets warmer, but I really like it out because it’s so quick! I like sort of messy/wavy hair, so bed hair kinda covers that for me, which means doing my hair is pretty much done! All good though, if some warmth + beautiful sunshine means I gotta wear my hair up once in a while, I’ll definitely compromise!!

5 days to go until beautiful spring weather is upon us and I cannot wait!! I’m so bored at the moment, like most other bloggers out there, and I’m more then ready to hang up my coats + embrace the warm weather. I’ve had a good run this winter, as I am not a winter girl, but fair’s fair and I am OVER the cold, layering + wintery fabrics. I’m excited for colours, dresses, swimmers + all things summery and I feel more myself out in the sunshine. So next Monday, it will be the first day of Spring + I’ll have no excuse whatsoever for any dose of mondayitis!
Lucky I have a new toy to play with (lipstick) or I would probably be pulling out my hair in transeasonal frustration! Hopefully you can see the colour better this time (Maybelline Moisture Extreme in Cool Watermelon) although the rising sun stole the limelight a little in these shots. Which I am not complaining about mind you, bring on the sunshine!!

jeans, jazz + mondayitis Add as Favorite Photo

Ok, I woke up with a severe case of mondayitis this morning. I had a lovely weekend and everything, so I’m not sure why it hit me so hard, but oh well (I’m over it now). I got caught up in that old thing called life this weekend, so alas – no updates from me. However, September is the month of love + already we have two weddings, my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary + our 1st wedding anniversary, so there will definitely been some lovely weekend posts in the very near future!
Mondayitis got me cranky at everything this morning, including my wardrobe, so I stuck to the basics (jeans + tee) and then added a little bling in the form of a sequinned bolero in the hopes it would brighten me up a bit. Yes, I am well aware this looks like part of a jazz ballet outfit, but I’ve had it for about 4 years now + I still love it, so it looks like it’s here to stay. I love a bit of sequinned tackiness in my life. (In my bad mood, I considered the addition of bright red lips to complete the hooker vibe of daytime sequins, but I decided against it, as having random strangers thinking I was a hooker would not improve my mood whatsoever.)
Hehe, I look cranky in the photos because I was cranky. Damn Mondays!

man shirt friday Add as Favorite Photo

I can’t help but think ‘casual friday’ when friday rolls around for another week. I think our office used to have a casual friday thing, but I don’t think it’s really done anymore. But, I still usually dress a little more casual than other days, which usually involves these black jeans.
I wanted to go pretty damn simple today + the jeans were a given, so I grabbed this vintage silk man’s shirt that I found for $1 on one of my op shopping sprees and was pretty much ready. It’s actually beautiful + warm today so I didn’t even need a jacket, and as this shirt is quite oversized + I don’t really like tucking things into these jeans, I thought I would wear this belt loosely over the top. I think it works because it’s cinching the shirt in nicely, while still looking more casual then if I’d belted it around my waist. Done + dusted.
Woohoo, weekend again!!

PS: not wearing lipstick today, partly because of casual-ness + partly because I’ve already bought another one (Revlon Red) + I’m looking after my wellbeing from this addiction. Lipstick Anonymous anyone?!

One day of wearing lipstick + I’m already thinking of different shades I want, what outfits would look hot with the addition of a touch of lippy, damn I’m already addicted! Oh and I bought another lipstick in my lunch break yesterday. It was the exact shade of my nailpolish + only $7, how could I resist? (Had to put a close up where you can see the nails as well.. radness.)
I thought I would try a more ‘complicated’ outfit + see if I could still get away with the lipstick. I think this look is kinda casual, but I felt the red lip made it a little more formal/work appropriate.. I don’t know, I’m new to the lipstick game.. does this work?
Oh and the boy loves the lipstick, but is also not loving it because of the kissing situation. How do you lovely lipstick wearers deal with this? I don’t want to be one of those smoochy people that leaves big lipstick smears over the victim’s face.. you all probably have some distant relative that does this, you know what I mean!
The lipstick I’m wearing today is Revlon Fire + Ice. When I was googling for an image of the product, I found it on a page with the title ‘Be a 50’s era glamour queen’. My thoughts – ‘umm ok, yes please!’.
