Tis the season..Sample sale season that is!

There is no better reason to get up and move to NYC than to plunder Madison Ave goodies at 7th Avenue pricing.

980 dress for 280. Not bad at all.

I totally copied the look down to the unseen smokey eye

Runway to Reality - My HERO dress   Add as Favorite Photo

So this is my hero dress. I went to the Chloe Sample Sale and this was the reason I went. They had one. It was my size. It was fate. It was originally an astronomical 4,390. But I took this baby home for 630. Oh yeah.

Like the shoes? Also Chloe. And for 160, down from 890, it was insane. A madhouse there, but I am one happy camper.

Also the extra photos on the bottom are of other sample sale booty. The bag and shoes LOOK amazing together on an all black emsemble. TBP later…

As inspired by Rick Owens   Add as Favorite Photo

So Kirna Zabate one of my fav. boutiques in SoHo was having their F&F 40% EVERYTHING sale today. I’ve had my eye on the Rick Owen tunic (see below) but, TAT – times are tough, so I was resourceful and found a rick-owens inspired, price friendly sheer tunic dress from french connection for only 128. RIck Owens even ON SALE was 237.

I rocked this to have lunch at Via Quadronno w/ my stylista/writer friend Jess. I was wearing TONS of H&M silver/black chains but took them off for my derm appt, so just imagine!

Then we went to Barney’s where I drooled over the YSL Tributes and a 6k Alaia coast dress. dreamy

And the outfit really would have been better with SKY HIGH Oxfords, but alas, I’m waiting for mine to come in the mail!

So I’m taking a quick break from my novel “The Nine” (which is FANTASTIC for all you lawyers/lawyers to be) to get some coffee and groceries.

I’m rocking what is to be the quintessential NYC errands outfit. Leggings, flats and cinched baggy sweater. Never underestimate the quality of GAP products for basics. While AA has taken over the basics realm with its awesome sweatshop free mantra, it’s also really a sexually terrible place to work. Nothing’s ever perfect but GAP has better sales than AA, so Gap it is for me.

And the belt and hat are the best finds for me in a time of economic turmoil. H&M has the BEST A.Wang knockoff slouchy knit hats. The belt is awesome and if any of your are in NYC, pick on up at the local SoHo or K-Town Mystique Boutiques for 12! Yeah it’s plastic but the elastic sides and velco back make for a perfectly flattering fit.

H&M wooly black hat $9
Gap scoop neck white shirt $11
Gap capri length black pants $13
Theory cashmere gray sweater $298

A dash of colour   Add as Favorite Photo

My professional wardrobe for me tends be rather conservative in my line of work. Colour is frowned upon, not like I embrace it anyways. However, sometimes, I like that punch of “hey I’m wild, I’m wearing orange!”

Furthermore, I tend to TRASH my workwear since I relate it to..well, work.

But I think this outfit really does describe my high-low mixing of items to really pull everything together!

Helmut Lang wool black blazer $585
forever 21 sweater attached cotton black shirt $12
H&M skinny cotton black pants $16
