In 1994, I was wearing big platform combat boots & listening to ‘Get Me Away From Here, I’m Dying," just about every day. I think I still have those combat boots & the lace up dresses I used to wear. But I’m swapping them out for these vintage Dexter boots, my cozy Hansel from Basel socks & tights, and my favorite H&M flounce skirt and this 50 cent velvet vest I found at Salvation Army a few weeks ago (with the intention to give it to my boyfriend!)
I got a package of books in the mail today! I’m excited to read Cesaire, Fanon, Sartre, Gould, Stein, Bakhtin, Thomas Bernhard, Robert Musil, & the sculptures of Hans Bellmer and of course, Johnny Ryan comics and moremoremoremoremoremoremoremore. Thanks snow and frigid wind and all the tights and sweaters I own.
love, Jenny

My secret garden/centillions of thorns Add as Favorite Photo

I’m rereading the Secret Garden and sneaking out to my own secret garden behind my house. Only, it’s more of a secret dead leaves and fallen branches and thorny prickly bushes that catch my tights when I’m running to make it for the automatic timer!
Being home in NY means finding old clothes I’ve never really worn. Like these DVF wedges that I begged my mom to buy me when I was in high school. And this white cotton lace dress with pintucking that I wore to try to seduce boys when I was eighteen…
And this purple scarf I used to wear around my neck all the time. I tried tying it up like a headband but my flimsy hair doesn’t want to stay back in a headband.

Being home in New York means finding super old clothes that I haven’t worn even once! Like this nutso dress that my mom bought me because I begged her to! I’m pretty sure this dress is Bebe. It’s made entirely of mohair and crazy flappy things. I wore it with my new Hansel from Basel scalloped tights that I’m obsessed with and criss cross studded platform pumps I got from a tiny shop in Shanghai. I’m also wearing my mom’s super 80s bow on my head to look even more ridiculous.
My mom thinks I look like a bunny in this dress. I don’t know what I think!

I bought this dress from Ebay more than seven years ago now! At the time, I got it for 3.99, can you believe it? Imagine how much it would go for now. I shudder to think. Anyway, I want to host a fancy frock party so I can have an excuse to wear this dress. You are all invited, my darling chictopians!

I’m in New York, which means digging up tons of old clothes that I can’t wait to show you all!
This Marc Jacobs dress is new but these shoes are old. I think this dress will serve me well for holiday dinners where the last thing I want to think about is a cinched waist!
White & black polka dot dress with peter pan collar: Marc Jacobs
Lace black tights: Hansel from Basel
Pink & black ballet shoes: French Sole (I think.)

As we were taking this photo our floor lamp crashed into a million pieces! The second photo is what my boyfriend ended up taking as the lamp crashed. I’m so excited to see everyone’s holiday outfits!
