I’ve been gone on a family visit, but I’m back! My husband and I made the choice to drive instead of fly (20 hours each way) because neither of us had ever seen the Deep South before (Texas to Florida). On the way back we stayed in New Orleans two nights to break up the drive and it was so amazing! I wish I had fashion posts from our time there, but since it was so cold anyway we both pretty much lived in our big pea coats so nothing too special to show…. This blue-top was a gift from my Grandmother-in-Law. I love her! She took me shopping with my Aunt-in-law (that sounds weird, I guess I just call her my aunt!), who bought me the vegan belt. Nothing vintage about any of this, but I like how the pattern on the shirt is a throw-back to the 50s housewife, and the 60s and 70s hippies.

ALSO! I’m picking my mom up from the airport tonight, I can’t wait! It will be her first time here in Texas (we’re all from California), and I’m looking forward to showing her how amazing Austin is. xo ps… Zombie always walks into my self-timer, I had to include her again (she’s my pup!)

Going to see my friend play her show tonight (the one I flyered the city for). We grew up together in a small town singing in choruses, school plays, and cars…, and now she is on a national tour, doing what she loves most with her life and I am so happy I get to be here to see a small part of that! I love her so much, she’ll always be a sister to me, I wish she lived closer, maybe someday she’ll move to Austin… Wearing this corduroy dress seems fitting for tonight, corduroy always reminds me of childhood, and plus its warm (Austin has been cold, wet and rainy this week, we even had hail and sleet again!). Wooden bracelet and ring both vintage, wedding rings and 2 thin, stacked friendship rings locally made.

Long day of chores and costco shopping with my hubby (and acquired these ultra comfy, bell-bottomed jeans). Went through the carwash and it still freaks me out when those big seaweed things slap the window. Vintage, long fringe necklace picked up thrifting years ago. Garnet ring, locally made, my step mom bought it for me as friendship rings (she has one too), and of course my wedding band <3>re out of town…

Took my dog Zombie on a rainy walk! She loves it and I do as long as I have a hat and a hoodie. No-name brand RX retro glasses (not vintage, reproduction). I absolutely love the lining on this pea coat I’ve had for years and never get tired of. my yellow floral undershirt/tank top was also a vintage clothing swap goodie :) I love having tons of fashionable friends to swap clothes with. <3

Picking my husband up after work (we share a car) and am going to cook him a romantic dinner for two tonight. He works so hard and I want to surprise him with something fancy. Even though we’re not going out for dinner (trying to save money), I still wanna dress up! He’s worth it :)

And I’m sort of a tomboy so my knees (and hands) are always scratched/banged up. Just ignore them <3

UPDATE: Dinner was a hit, I made spaghetti and organic green salad with heffeweisen and fresh squeezed orange juice. He was surprised and it was delicious!
