i have been searching thrift stores all over the city (and even outside the city) for a floral dress but i finally found one at zara, and super affordable to boot! i guess i’m pretty picky about the colour/print of floral, since it’s a stretch to wear a) so much colour, and b) so much print—especially floral. i think the jean jacket kind of downplays the girliness of the dress. ya?
the one downfall is that this dress has some odd draping on the sides, which adds way too much volume on my hips, so i had to safety pin them together in the back, sort of like a cheater’s dart.. or if you want to be nit-picky.. someone-who-doesn’t-know-how-to-sew/own-a-sewing-machine’s dart. i’m working on it…

…kind of.
went to see juan maclean in this.
the aa tee is a little too sack-dress-y so i had to pin the front and side to make it hang a little better.

Seems like everyone is talking about/wearing rolledup/pushed up sleeves these days.. the sartorialist even felt he needed to dedicate a post to talking about it. I personally like the pushed up sleeve look because it makes an outfit feel less rigid and a little more laid back. I especially love it when it showcases an amazing lining. I’ve been wearing this blazer all summer and I roll up the sleeves because it was just so hot!
Sorry about the picture quality.. the lining dress is a bluish-gray as well as the stockings.

Got this top at Opening Ceremony in NY. The back has a thick ribbing along the bottom which gives it a more jacket-y feeling. The back is made of sparkly linen and the front “scarf” is made of cotton. Its even got pockets! And I’m a sucker for pockets. I’m always looking for interesting cuts of black tops or cardigans and when I saw this I was a little confused on how to wear it and got excited. Even though the price was a little steep I had to shell out for it.
