This photoshoot was an entirely new experience for me - we took these shots down the street from my office, on my lunch break. This may seem relatively normal, but for me it was a big deal. I've historically been very private about my blog, particularly in my professional life. After all, it's difficult enough to be taken seriously as a petite twenty-something in a male-dominated industry, particularly when you've been even marginally successful. Revealing that I spend my spare time on a fashion blog, something that many outsiders have a hard time understanding and often think is silly, always seemed like it would just make things worse. Maybe it's just that I care less about what people think of me as I age, but when I went back to work this fall, I decided it was time to stop holding back. Coco & Vera is a huge part of my life and, as an ongoing project, it's also at the top of my resume. The reaction has, largely, been positive... but I have to admit, I'm not sure how often I'm going to want to take photos during the work day. It's true, we all have wrinkled skirts and partially untucked shirts on occasion - it's life, it happens. But it does happen less when I'm fully concentrating on what I'm doing, rather than running outside after a morning spent on mind-numbing phone calls...!
