I had sworn off hoodies at some point a few years back after deciding that they were the refuge of the lazy. And I still think they’re the refuge of the lazy. I just stopped thinking that laziness is a bad thing.
If anything, being lazy requires that I think harder about what I buy, since I’ll be wearing it all the time. And getting a good, clean-looking hoodie with good proportions for my body seemed like a smart use of my money. Rick Owen’s used to make awesome hoodies for his DRKSHDW collection, but the recent iterations have been a bit lackluster. Fortunately, I managed to track one down in my size.
Long and lean, like the rest of my wardrobe, what I really love isn’t the cool full-body zip or the bondage strap, but the color. I know it sounds nerdy as hell, but I’ve always loved Rick’s use of color. The “Dust” of my hoodie is a weird combo of brown, olive, gra, and slate. And it’s much easier to say “Dust” than “broligrate”.
