Teal-colored leather made up the thin shorts she wore that afternoon. It was a shade somewhere between a stormy sky and a tossing sea, both of which could be seen from the grand window in the front hall of the mansion. Held closed with a zipper and a simple button, with belt loops around the waist in case they were needed, the shorts had a pocket on each side for convenient reach.
Wendy folded her arms across the front of her matching shirt and studied her notes for a moment. Then she grabbed the pencil from the cup on her desk and made a few quick additions. If the calculations were accurate, there was very little she had yet to do. The experiment would be a success.
After checking over the calculations yet again and still finding no errors, she got up from the desk and picked up the notebook. She crossed the room of her office to the door and went out into the hallway, where she turned towards the steps leading to the basement laboratory.
