Firstly, I feel I need to apologise for the quality of the photos – sorry, they are slightly fuzzy. I was in a bit of a rush actually when these were taken and was in no way feeling relaxed. I did try to salvage them with some post editing and this was the best that I could do.
Anyway, as promised, here is what I wore more than a week ago to the Malaysia Tatler Ball. As a preface, I’m never one that enjoys social settings, less so a black-tie affair. And to make the evening more tolerable, I decided that I needed to clothe myself in the style I find most comfortable in – definitely simple and hopefully edgy – yet formal enough to comply with the dress code.
The dress as pictured here was specially tailored for the occasion, with some help from a great friend. I love its straightforward design, which means it is versatile enough to be dressed up or down, while the workable zippers appeal to my sense of fun. For additional funkiness and comfort, I replaced the typical sky-high heels with ankle boots and kept accessorising to a minimal with only a chunky gold cuff and a black woven clutch.
PS My friend is offering wonderful tailormade, as well as readymade products (the clutch, for example, is one of the many beautiful items she’s selling). They will be available online soon. Will keep you guys updated when her website is up. :)
