It’s been a while since I broached the subject of the book I’ve been writing for, well, what feels like most of my life at this point. In fact, if you’re new here, you might not even know about it. I started writing my little book, not at all seriously, when I was fifteen. After two chapters, I gave up – until a friend commandeered my notebook and demanded to know how the story would end. I’ve done several rewrites over the years, and taken some very long breaks in between them. In fact, I think it’s fair to say that the final drafts bear very little resemblance to the story I started one Sunday afternoon in grade ten. But the exciting thing is, there is a final draft. There were a lot of times when I wondered if the book would ever be finished… and there were the months when it was finished and I wasn’t sure where to go from there; when you spend so long on something, it’s hard to let it go. After a lot of thinking, I’ve decided it’s time to take a leap and publish, so, if all goes according to plan, my first book will be on the shelves in time for Christmas! The prospect is a little be terrifying, honestly, but I know that ultimately, it’s what I want and it’s something worth celebrating. And when you’re celebrating, sequins are practically mandatory. Besides, who could resist this dress? I’m already planning holiday parties just so I have more reasons to wear it!
