This is the outfit I wore to Day Four of World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto (read my WMCFW Day 4 Recap for a look at the shows). The outfit is very London England to me, particularly the high rise skirt paired with a slightly cropped t-shirt and Chelsea-style boots. I suppose that makes sense, since the bulk of the ensemble is from Boohoo – the much loved UK brand now available in Canada.
Even riding the elevator down to the lobby to catch a taxi landed me two compliments on my high rise sequin skirt. It’s going to be a holiday staple of mine! The sparkle let me show off some of my personal style without looking like I was trying to compete with the models on stage. I kept my hair straight and middle-parted to keep the clean lines of the outfit going.
The top is a comfortable cropped t-shirt with a high neckline. I like how it balances the line between conservative and flashy, what with the high neckline and flash of tummy skin. I do love any chance to show off my slowly building abs!
The leather jacket is from Danier, but I picked it up a couple seasons ago. It’s incredibly soft, yet structured throughout the neck and shoulders – making it a perfect option for wearing over-the-shoulders to give a little warmth while not bogging down the outfit. The bag is a new piece available at Express, and actually comes with a shoulder chain as well. Here I’m wearing it as a clutch, but I wore it to the Stephan Caras after party on Friday night as a shoulder bag. 10 points for versatility! ;)
The boots are the Solective ones I’ve been raving about from Capezio Shoes. To me, they’re the perfect mix of matte and sheen and give the outfit a little London edge. As far as jewelry went, the skirt is really all I needed. I did layer on a couple of gold and black bangle bracelets, but I felt I had enough sparkle going on to skip a necklace.
