It was a simple black dress, with three-quarter-length sleeves and smooth fabric that flowed continuously down to the middle of her thighs, where the skirt ended with a straight edge. A small opening displayed just part of her upper back, and a white lace collar lay flat around the neckline. The circular shapes that formed its pattern made it just decorative enough to accent the otherwise plain dress with a touch of flair.Corinne took a deep breath and looked over herself for the thousandth time, making sure she could not come up with some reason to not wear this dress. It was tight enough to curve around her figure without constricting her, it was neither ostentatious nor staid, and it was casual enough for a gathering of friends while still being dressy enough for a celebration. She ran to grab the present she had bought, heart hammering in her chest as she tried to think of anything but all the things that could possibly go wrong.
