Sue me for my lack of creativity but I just couldn’t resist. Remember that Destiny’s Child song entitled “Survivor” where Beyonce, Kelly, and the other member (Michelle?) were decked in camouflage gear? Well, that’s where I borrowed inspiration from for my outfit. Granted, I’m not exactly taking the “amazon/soldier woman” look that religiously (nothing belly bearing and definitely no bandanas tied on my forehead) but I did push my luck by pairing two Camo pieces in one ensemble.
Okay, confession time–I used to hate Camo print. Not as much as denim, mind you, but enough for me to scoff at any product with the said print. I especially found the Arctic Camo print ridiculous (and I still kind of do) but somehow, late last year, I developed a liking towards it. It’s probably the appeal of the Utilitarian fashion–I love the color Olive, I love the edginess it exuded, and I loved how it made a striking contrast against the most feminine dresses in my closet.
Sooner or later, I was obsessed. I started purchasing anything Camo–jeans, skirts, tops, more tops, and even shoes! I even contemplated buying a Furla bag with the said print (but decided I shouldn’t throw money away for a possibly fleeting trend).
