One of things I miss most about Paris is my Louvre membership. On a rainy afternoon – and we had quite a lot of them in the last year – there is no more wonderful way to wile away the hours than wandering around the cavernous old palace, haunting the painting halls that few tourists ever stop in. I haven’t yet figured out exactly what to do with my rainy Vancouver days – and we’ve had a lot of them lately, too – so I’ve settled in to read through my old favourite books. I just finished The Pursuit of Love by Nancy Mitford and moved on to I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith. For my next book, I’m trying to choose between Travels with Charley, a sweet little book by my favourite author, John Steinbeck, or what is perhaps my favourite love story of all time, Jane Eyre. What’s on your autumn reading list?
