I’ve been pretty obsessed with everything “American Horror Story” lately. Since the show’s newest season is premiering in October, I’ve been re-watching old episodes to get myself scared and prepared!
The show is an ‘anthology series’ which is something that sets it apart from many others on TV; every season is a stand-alone story, but with the same cast of talented, dark and dreamy actors. The season that comes out this October is called “Coven” and will explore witchy themes, the previous was called “Asylum” and took place in a sanitarium in the 1960s, and the first was simply called “Murder House” because it centered around a haunted mansion where anyone who’d previously died on the property is STILL THERE. Oooh, how spooky!
I recommend watching this program if you at all have a dark side or an eye for well-done melodrama and macabre, but I ESPECIALLY implore you to watch the first season just to see how Violet Harmon dresses! Her family moves into the ‘Murder House’, without knowing of its history, and though Violet is visited by many ghosts, her style never falters. She is always chic, grungy, feminine and comfortable, too. She can have romantic talks, blend in and hide in the house’s dark decor, and outrun the specters in her easy, flowy dresses and pairs of lace-up boots. The boots are the only thing I don’t have yet. But I’m working on finding the perfect pair. If the ghosts don’t get me first.
