JessG 's Thoughts:

Many years ago I gave to my grandmother a nice abat jour that I chose for the exquisite theme on the lampshade. Then I discovered that the so called “Toile de Jouy” is a kind of fabric that depicts a pastoral scene, usually a very detailed design on a white background, created in the French city of Jouy-en-Josas, placed near Versailles. This fabric became very popular starting from the 18th century, and it was widely used to decorate curtains, pillows or aprons. During the 90’s Vivienne Westwood reinvented Toile de Jouy creating gorgeous princess-like dresses. My dress is tailored made on a classical 50’s silhouette: a last sunbeam before autumn :-)
