I rarely wear black but I like to take a step out of my comfort zone every once in a while, therefore on Sunday I stepped over to the dark side and swathed myself in fashion’s favourite colour.
Black is definitely a colour that is abused by un-thoughtful people throwing together black pieces in order to disappear from life. I hate it when black is used in such a way! Black worn in the right way can look striking, effortlessly cool and iconic. Black is admittedly also perfect for going under the radar if you’re having an off day, but should be worn in a way that if someone did happen to notice you, you still looked chic and subtly stylish, not like an awkward shadow.
Black has a bore risk so when I wore it the other day I made sure I edged it up a touch. If you love your staple black skinnies then the ripped versions are perfect for adding interest to a black getup. A James Dean style black t-shirt is simple yet cool and also kindly lets the rips have all the attention. I usually accessorise with neon or bright colours when donning black to add an eye-catching contrast, this colour pop red bag from Oasis is perfect. I slicked on red lipstick and nail varnish to add to the red/black contrast and finished the look off with a camo print cap. Black accented with red and camouflage/khaki looks really cool.
I felt relaxed, confident, cool and trendy in this outfit, will definitely wear it again on casual days.
