This was my outfit featured in Stylebible’s Blogger Challenge for Tropical Prints. Here’s a transcript of the interview:
[What do you like the most about this trend?]
Generally, I like how casual it is. It reminds me of the beach and of the summer season in general. Likewise, I’ve been obsessed with street wear as of late and I think tropical prints are all the rage in that particular fashion subcategory.
[How do you build your outfit around it?]
Admittedly, I have a lot of palm tree-print tops and majority of them are very colorful. I wanted to deviate from the flashy street designs, as it was already common. I gravitated towards this particular print because it somehow managed to offset the kitschy design with its slightly serious color (the mix of olives and browns). I happen to think olive in general is very chic, so I gave it a “So-Cal!” casual vibe with cut-off shorts and married it with tough girl Stockholm edge via the black leather and the flashy rose gold hardware.
[How do you balance your outfit to avoid making it look over-the-top?]
Well, I think pairing the entire outfit with heels made it less casual and kitschy.
[Can you give tips on how to pull off this trend?]
Have fun with it. It’s a very casual trend so go nuts.
[Where can you shop for this trend?]
I think all high street shops have a semblance of this trend!
