Another week, another round-up. It’s amazing how much content is released out onto the www. every week. As usual, we’ve whittled it down to the a brief menu of sites you should check out this week. This week, we have everything from roasted strawberry and banana bread to English DJ aficionados. Let’s jump right in.
The Endless Summer continues. Show us your summer uniform with an outfit upload via the Chictopia App , and you could win one of three shopping sprees!
In this race to commercialization, we sometimes run out of space, and builders start construction in areas that already have residents living there. What’s done in this case? Well, often times, the builders buy out the residents, offering “just compensation” for their property, and rooting their expansion in the “public interest”. Some individuals though, don’t budge. Whether they think they’re being cheated, or that their place holds too much sentimental value, they refuse the evacuate the property. These residences are deemed nail houses. Here’s a look at incredible nail houses around the world.
So, we get dubstep and electronic music is kind of one of those love it or hate it genres. Pure instrumentals just don’t work for some people, but as soon as you layer a vocal or two on top of an edm beat, it’s a whole new ball game. Jakwob has mastered the art of bridging those who can’t do without lyrics with edm devotees. This British producer/DJ, has made the dubstep much easier to get onboard. Check out “Blinding” and “Electrify”.
Shenanigans on the Interwebz
Something about adults freaking out is just funny. Freakout inducing circumstances include when a man afraid of flying is taken, by his friend no less, on an aerobatic plane ride. A grown man screaming and wailing like a your little brother after he finds out that he has cooties. Observe.
Food for Thought
Roasted strawberry banana bread. Do we have your attention? This bread contains no oils, and only 2 tbsp of butter. Healthy enough and mighty tasty. It is still swimsuit season after all. Give it a try!
Time to Split
Forget all around short or long hems. Split hems give the best of both worlds. A peep of leg, but not too risque, as demonstrated by vintage86. These split hems aren’t only found on dresses and skirts either. They’re a winning combination with pants as well. These striped jeans with split hems, seen on adornlafemme are especially fabulous.
In the Chictopia Office
We had a discussion recently about family roots. With sites like ancestry.com so accessible nowadays, it’s become much easier to learn about where you’re from. Whether you consult the web, or have a family member recount tales about the earlier days, it’s always exciting to discover things about family history. Here at Chictopia we have Scottish sheep swipers, and mountain (cave?) dwellers. Ah, the earlier times. What stories have been passed down in your family?
All done! Now you’re caught up on the must reads on the web today. It’s always so nice to catch up. Until next week, loves. Stay chic.
