Another week down! Summer has been flying by, but it’s been a great run so far. We hope that you all have been making the most of the warm weather, and fitting in as many park dates and outdoor concerts as you can. To help you along, we’ve compiled a list of things that you should not have missed on the web this week. Helping you make more time to snack on cheese and grapes on a grassy slope, one round up at a time!
We want to see what you’re wearing to keep cool in warmer weather! Show us in our Endless Summer Contest with a mobile upload via the Chictopia app, and you could win one of three Chictopia Shop giveaways. Summer just got even sweeter.
Palazzo pants have quite the rep, but we’ve finally gotten to the bottom of these bottoms. Give palazzos a test drive!
While there are still certain things we are clueless about, Cher’s fashion cues are not one of them. Check out what Cher’s taught us.
We coo at babies. We coo at puppies. We coo at kittens. They’re just so cute that we just want to gobble them up. Why do we react this way? We see something cute, and get a little frenetic. Well, it turns out, cuteness might just be linked with aggression. Cute aggression just might actually be a real thing.
You know the band that covered Gotye ft. Kimbra’s “Somebody That I Used to Know”, and sparked the crazy radio play that the song got? Thought so. Walk Off the Earth is much more than a cover band though. They have some incredible originals – “Red Hands” is one of our favorites. Canada has another item to add to its list of bragging rights!
Shenanigans on the Interwebz
Some people see Gwyneth Paltrow as an outstanding lady who eats locally-grown, organic class and sophistication for breakfast. Others find that she can come of a little uppity and Euro-obsessed to some. Well, those of the latter school of thought have decided to compile a list of her most obnoxious foodie statements. This includes: “Maple syrup adds another layer of autumnal yum”. We all know how integral “autumnal yum” is a dish.
Food for Thought
We’re all guilty of taking the lovely people in our lives for granted sometimes. We forget to let them know just how much we appreciate them. This week, an NPR host live tweeted his mother’s passing, reminding the world again, to cherish every moment that you have with someone, and to never let pride get in the way of showing someone just how much you love them. Take some time to let someone in your life know how much they mean to you today.
Kimonos are the ideal cover up for summer nights. Plus, there’s a kimono for everyone. They can be duster length or cropped, sheer or opaque, solid or printed. They work with leather for a more dressed up look, a maxi for some bohemian flair, or classic denim cutoffs for a casual day out.
In the Chictopia Office
The Bachelorette. Whether or not you watch it, you have probably heard of it. The show is impossible to escape. We’d be lying if we said conversations about the male candidates this season never come up in the office. Do you watch the show? What’s your take?
Thanks for tuning in, Chictopians. Now that you’re caught up on web happenings, get out there for more fun in the sun! We’ll see you at next week’s roundup.
