We’ve chatted about gel nails before, and how the engineers in the office view the “curing process”, but the advent of the remarkable gel polish is too good to not bring up again. Gel trumps regular polish in almost all aspects of polish assessment. They have more shine, they last longer than, and they don’t stain. That being said, we have our reservations about just the UV light thats used to cure the polish. Nailbed cancer is very real.
If your getting routine gel manicures, take some precautions. Prep your hands with sunscreen beforehand, and look into equipping yourself with a pair of sun protective gloves cut off at the fingertips for your next salon appointment. Better safe than sorry, folks.
Looking for some new music to relax to? Youth Lagoon aka Trevor Powers is a California born, Idaho bred artist, who’s been making rounds at some major festivals (Lollapalooza, Treasure Island, Outside Lands, et al), and for good reason. He’s a little folk, a little pop, and very minimal. We haven’t heard anything quite like it.
Shenanigans on the Interwebz
Blurred Lines. It’s a nice song. It’s also got quite a few undertones that are up for interpretation. Is it about blurring the lines between gender expectations, or sexual consent, or , or something else? Someone thought B. Clinton might be a good candidate to cover the tune. Who woulda thunk that Bill and Robin would cross paths musically?
Food for Thought
Broccoli has the rep of being a child’s vegetable nightmare. Whether or not you liked the green growing up, this broccoli pesto recipe can turn a round of ‘yucks’ to a chorus of ‘yums’. Serve is with as a sauce, a spread, or a dip!
Pants and prints are heads over heels for each other at the moment. It seems like every pant who’s any pant is coupled up with a print. Whether it be an oriental print, an abstract diamond pattern, or a lovable floral – prints and pants make one good looking couple.
In The Chictopia Office
We’ve recently found ourselves in a yogurt frenzy here at the office. Greek yogurt, to be specific. It’s cool and creamy – the perfect option for a light summer snack. They have a higher protein content that standard yogurt, and, due to the straining process, they generally have a lower sodium and sugar content to boot! Yumz.
And that concludes this week’s round up. Thanks for joining us, and have a splendid weekend ahead. Until next week!
