It’s that time again! We’re here to bring you the weekly lowdown of things you should have checked out on the web this week. There’s plenty to cover, so let’s jump straight into it, shall we?
Have you checked out the Chictopia app yet? If not, there’s no better time than now! ZooShoo wants to see how you’re styling your summer kicks for their Get Your Kicks giveaway, and they’re taking submissions via mobile. Snap a picture and upload it with the Chictopia app. You could just win yourself one of three shopping sprees. What are you waiting for?
Ever heard of the Energy Fair in Custer, Wisconsin? While we will admit it doesn’t have the most original name, it’s definitely a fair you’ll be hearing more about. It’s a 3 day event that has been going on for the past 23 years, but is only now coming into the public eye. People from across the globe converge to talk about all things natural , environment friendly, biodegradable, and low waste. Here’s an article that recaps the event, and even includes a recipe for natural, homemade paint. Green has never looked so good.
Bastille is this fabulous four man band hailing from that country across the pond that’s known for its tea and crumpets. Their music falls under the very hazy genre of “alternative rock”, but we can vouch that they are nothing of the Papa Roach sort. Not that we have anything against Papa Roach. It just felt necessary to make that distinction. Anyway, the boys of Bastille harmonize like angels, and are worth checking out. If you live in the UK, catch them while they’re on the festival circuit. If you’re not, they’re also playing a few international shows between festivals.
Shenanigans on the Interwebz
Sure, brown bears can be cute. From afar. We applaud this guy/gal for not totally flipping out when this happened . Don’t know if we could have kept our cool quite as well.
Photo filters are so 2012. It’s all about video filters now. Starting today, Instagram has grown its services to include video. Vine gave you 6.5 seconds, but Instagram is giving you 15. Do the extra seconds make a difference? Twitter and Vine, Facebook and Instagram; may the best power couple prevail.
Food for Thought
This week, we’re doing things a little different and actually talking food. Ever wish you could have mac and cheese every day, without having to wonder when the impending heart attack is going to strike? Well, this recipe takes us one step closer to that dream. Enter cauliflower mac and cheese. Don’t knock it till you try it.
In the Chictopia Office
One of the girls in the office is trying out her first ever juice cleanse. Today, she’s on day three of a five day program. Her thoughts: “If you do a cleanse like this, you’d better have an irrational love for juice. If you’re like me, and don’t normally drink much of it to begin with, stomaching 6 juices a day is going to be quite the feat…Don’t you dare eat that breadstick in front of me. Just kidding. You can. I’ve just always wanted to play the cranky, hungry lady.” Have you done a juice cleanse before? How’d you like it?
Another week down. As always, we hope you learned something in this week’s recap, and we’ll see you very soon. Till then, adieu!
