Vintage Rodo Italy Black Leather with Gold Logo Ornament Crescent Shoulder Bag CrossBody or Cross Body Sling Style Purse – Retro Euro Chic Bag is Perfect for Casual or Evening Enjoyment – ca. 1960’s 1970’s (possibly 50’s?)

This has been with me for ages! I have no idea of when it was made – my guess is 1960s, but it may be a bit later or earlier. It has lots of style potential – it has a “MOD” type appeal, but there is also that 80’s Euro Chic thing going on. The flashy gold tone logo ornament and hardware give it that Euro look.

The bag is quite cool with an adjustable (not removable) shoulder strap. In the pictures, I have it adjusted a bit on the short side. When you open the purse, there are 2 main slot type compartments, each with an additional little slot pocket. One side has a zippered compartment, and the other a simple slot – back in the day, this was where you kept your mirror for “powdering of the nose” which women seemed to enjoy. In fact, I would wager that this purse actually came with a mirror when it was new, as many fine bags did clear up until the late 1980’s.

The bag is leather lined, with both the “mirror” pocket and the zippered compartment lined in a golden almost grosgrain-textured satin fabric.

This closes and opens by means of a hidden snap.

Condition: “Good Vintage Condition” This has some “storage squishing” to it, and there are some signs of wear in general. The golden hardware is all intact, functional in in great condition. The interior has some signs of age/wear/use. In the 20 years that I have had the bag, I used it one time, and it has been stored for ages. It is NOT mint condition, but for those who love vintage, this is very wearable and distinctive. Strap could use some leather conditioning, as it has a bit of stiffening, but this will disappear with wear and conditioning.

Rodo Bags such as this were sold in fine boutiques and trendy shops and department stores. They are always well made and have a creative edge to their design and execution. This is no exception. It’s a lovely little bag!

Please read my VERY detailed description for all the information you need – and should you require additional information, photos and so forth, please just message me! Measurements are provided, and if I have left anything out, again, glad to answer your questions.

Style Features: Mentioned above

Width: approx 11.25 inches measured from golden hinge to golden hinge across the top. Across the middle, we are looking at about 10 inches.

Height: 7 inches from the hinge, and 6 inches from the middle of the bag to the lower edge

Shoulder Strap Drop: As shown, this is 15.5 inches from top of strap to where bag begins. You may shorten this up one notch to about 14 inches or so. When fully extended, the shoulder strap is about 17 inches.

Thickness/Depth: This is a slender bag, as you can see. If we measure beneath the logo ornament across the bottom, this is 1.75 inches thick. With the bag open and extended, across the side, we have about 5 inches. Because this bag was created WELL before the advent of the cell phone, I have given it the iphone test – and the purse closes fine and looks fine WITH my iphone 4 (complete with bulbous Mophie battery case) inside. :) So, yes, you can fit a cell phone in here.
