[The second part in a summer road trip series of what to pack.]
It’s hot. It’s humid. It’s the fashion capital, some say, of the world.
There are some pretty well dressed Ladies and Gents around, but no Chictopian would get lost in the crowd. With the muggy weather, keep things simple and sleek. Explore the concrete jungle, in a black mini/midi/maxi dress (cutouts are at your own discretion – but hey, it’s added ventilation!) paired with shades that bring back the Roaring Twenties. Keep your hands free, and pesky pickpockets at bay with a crossbody bag. Since it is New York, make that a holographic crossbody. Now, it’s physically possible to double fist Shake Shack milkshakes! This is a judgment free zone.
Uptown princesses and downtown bohèmes rejoice! With five different boroughs, and endless neighborhoods, there’s a stomping ground for everyone. Check out the Met (get in touch with your inner punk at the “Chaos to Couture” exhibit, which runs until August 18th) and the Guggenheim for your art fix, pay a visit to the High Line, and for my rice pudding fanatics out there (holler), Rice to Riches cannot be missed.
As the day winds down, head over to prime sunset real estate, Brooklyn Bridge Park. And don’t worry about changing – your black dress makes for an easy day to night transition. Add an oversized gilet, like Style Icon agogofashion, and a pair of platforms to the mix. Done. You’re set for the night. Whether you’re at 4th St Pub (drinks and free popcorn – hoorah!), Moto (warm. date. cake. don’t ask questions.), or catching a show on Broadway, you’ll be turning heads.
Now go get some beauty sleep, because we’re Miami-bound!
