Blue skies and ice cream highs–summer’s in the building*. Get those seat belts buckled, because we’re roadtrippin’. Worried your summer wardrobe won’t turn heads? Don’t be. Over the next few days, we’ll be traversing the country to Austin, NYC, and Miami and collecting fashion cues (and maybe a hitchhiker or two), so you can hit the road in style.
Our first stop: Austin.
It’s the music capital of the world…and where we get to live out our frontier woman dreams. With an indie twist, of course.
Plaid is rad, but the stuff in your bags best not be looking like you ransacked a rodeo. Prints reminiscent of Peter Pilotto S/S13 (style4style’s paisley print is on point!), Cherokee-inspired patterns, and earthy tones are all great options. A little neon detailing never killed anyone either. As for shoes, stilettos get the no-go. Hit the concert floor in boots, (cowboy-inspired one’s preferred), or a sturdy platform at the very least.
After catching your favorite musical acts, get your grub on in Downtown. ChiLantro BBQ, Kebabalicious, and Torchy’s Tacos won’t let you down. Keep the napkin bib handy. We don’t want you ruining that Austin ensemble.
When the tumz is satisfied, take time out for some retail therapy. Whether you’re a bookworm (BookPeople), or more into the interior design scene (The Khazana), A-Town has a shop for you.
The show doesn’t end when the sun sets. Take those boots up a notch, go a little higher with the heel and platform, and hit 6th Street for some of the best nightlife in the city. At the end of the evening, if you find the boots that were “made for walkin’”, are now “made for limpin”, save your feet and flag down a pedicab. Problem solved.
Rest up y’all, because next up, we’re headed to the Big Apple!
*Sorry to our Chictopians in the Southern Hemisphere, but you already had your fun! Anyway, layering season can bring just as much joy as summer can…but that’s a whole different post).
