What I wore on Friday to my internship.
If I look exhausted in this photo, it’s because I somehow caught whatever is going around. I’ve started this immune boosting diet & just downed half of a green pepper (which was surprisingly delicious) in an effort to get better before the weekend is up. NYC waits for no one!
My first week is over & there are plenty of things I’ve learned, one of them being that sometimes, interns are asked to do literally impossible things (like get the April issue of Vogue before it’s out). But you have to do everything with a smile on your face & if you love it, you will without effort.
I’ve encountered more than a handful of other interns that are less than excited about what they’re doing and I’m glad that for the most part, I’m absolutely in love with mine.
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, you’ll find me at a brand management firm doing research & making Excel spreadsheets. I don’t think I can justly express my love for Excel spreadsheets. I’m pretty OCD when it comes to these things. I’m really loving everything here so far. Seeing projects in the development stages or just beginning to come to life is so interesting. Everyone is so warm, welcoming & helpful. I really couldn’t be happier!
Lessons So Far
Comfortable flat shoes are a MUST when interning & running around the city.
Google Maps is the best thing ever invented. That blue dot that follows me around the map is just pure genius.
Internships will always surprise you.
For a time, I thought I wanted to be a Buyer. Then I thought for sure I wanted to do PR. And now, I’m sort of thinking I’d like to work on the business end of things instead. There are so many careers in fashion that I’m still learning about.
Battling the cold/flu/plague/whatever this is surely makes me a bore. I promise I’ll have more interesting things to say once this passes.
