There are fashion crushes, and then there are fashion crushes. My love for Pelayo DÃaz Zapico (aka katelovesme, he also blogs here) is a little ridiculous, but can you blame me? The hair, the layers, the masculine takes on feminine pieces…the hair! Pelayo was kind enough to take some time off from Paris fashion week to offer up some words of wisdom.

Describe what you do for a living
I study fashion design with marketing at Central Saint Martins so as a student I don’t have much time to work. Whenever I have free time I do work experience with any fashion designer as I think is the best way to learn. I also do little jobs as a stylist, I write articles for magazines and websites and I´ve recently been made European fashion editor for Status magazine which is really good!
Boil your style sense down to one phrase—what is it?
I’m a bit of a goth 50’s pimp with L.A touches, does that make any sense?
What were your favorite shows this season?
New York Davidelfin showed everybody what Spanish people are able to do, it was so amazing. London? Giles Deacon was so texture adventurous and unique. In Milan I loved how Dsquared took the Mary Kate Olsen look to the catwalk and In Paris I almost screamed during McQueen when I saw the first model appearing on the catwalk, maybe was the music, the people next to me or the whole Paris excitement but I got so inspired to do things!
How do you feel about everybody copping your man-bouffant hairstyle?
Can they pull it off? (laughs) nah, seriously, its so funny because I change my hair style every once in a while, i find it very refreshing, and every time I do it I get this kids emailing me portrait pictures of their hair saying: Look! Just like you! And I’m like, I’ve done that but, i didn’t have the model’s email to show him, damn!
Is Gala as adorable in person as she seems?
When she is good she is adorable and when she is bad she is amazing.
I absolutely love men in skirts—is there any item of clothing that you’re scared to wear but are dying to try?
I’ve never worn a skirt before. (editor’s note: whoops, my bad) I do wear a kilt that I bought while shopping in London with my friend Margot. I just thought why not? And then everyone went crazy with Marc Jacobs. Okay, I don’t have a black birkin (yet) but I’ve worn it before!
What trend are you tired of seeing?
Tartan. I’ve always worn it because i love it, in any kind of fabric but this winter people when crazy with it. I even bumped into a guy head to toe including scarf and socks in different tartan colours. I felt like slapping him to be honest. That day i put all my shirts in a pile to never be worn again. That kind of obsessions really kills fashion for me.
Your call: what’s the next big thing?
Leather suits, trust me.
Last question. Who’s Kate?
Kate Moss!

nicee i love your jacket!
