Anyone else obsessing over the 60’s resurgence in fashion? Lately I’ve been seeing a huge mod square print revival in the Style Gallery, most likely inspired by Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2013 runway show. Whether it’s checked, tartan or gingham, square print is the print of the season.
I’ve looked to the mod squad on Chictopia (see JouJouVilleroy and Natashaandlovu) for inspiration on how to wear square print and came up with some tips on how to be square without the Louis Vuitton label.
1. Wear classic black and white. If you’re all checkered out, you might as well keep it classy with an all black and white outfit. I chose to wear an Artfitgirl black and white checked blouse over a maxi dress— plain and simple! I threw on some black pumps to finish the classic look.
2. Fully check yourself. Tired of double denim, all leather, or monochromatic fashion? Here’s another way to satiate your OCD-ness: squares squared. Wear squares all over like NanaHoshino who looks doubly awesome in a checked print dress AND matching shoes!
3. A nod to mod. Ruxandraioana goes all out 60’s with a checked out look. Add some elements from mod fashion like white space boots, tights, and a voluminous beehive for a “mad for mod” outfit.
4. Accessorize. I love the way Style Icon Ad3lle makes a simple checked dress fit her personal style. By adding accessories like a skinny belt, clutch, fedora and cut out boots, the checked dress goes from the Louis Vuitton runway to the street level that people like you and me just get and love.
