I guess it’s no secret that I’m pretty petite. Sure, petite girls would all like to be super-model tall, but honestly, what are you going to do? You’re small. Deal with it.
When I was in high school there were many petite girls who had to pin back their clothing or shop in the kid’s section of the department store. This needs to stop. I made a few notes for those 5’3" and under girls.

Proportional accessories – I think it’s pretty easy to see when a dress or shirt is just way too big on you. But did you know there was such a thing as proportional accessories? Sure a shoe, a belt, or a necklace could look great in the display, but remember those horrible oversized beaded necklaces that were ‘in’ awhile back? Trust me, they looked 8921734823x dumber on petite girls.
Bright pop of color – While I personally love to dress in all black, you do run the risk of looking like… a period. A tiny dotted speck. A bright pop of color can help make an impression.
A little volume – I’m wearing the Camille skirt. It’s the perfect petite girl skirt because it provides just the right amount of volume. And the high-waist and short cut is both modern and doesn’t overwhelm my tiny frame. Thanks Camille!
Heels – Ok, so I don’t wear heels all the time. But it definitely helps to add an inch or two… or five to my height (5’3"). I look for a thick heel that will also work well for day time.
