I am officially on spring break so that means having a much larger closet to play around with. Yesterday I watched my favorite movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, so I could weep over the perfection of Audrey, George Peppard, and everything about the movie. One of my favorite things about Holly Golightly, Audrey’s character, is that she is a “glamour girl” but she doesn’t try too hard—it’s casual but so chic. She looks so marvelous, just in her oversized tuxedo shirt, sleeping mask, and earplugs when she first meets Paul Varjak. There’s just something about looking luxurious while you are also comfortable. Silk sleepwear, eye masks, and pretty dressing gowns have such an air of sophistication about them that it inspires me to add some glamorous loungewear into my wardrobe.
I bought this romper over the summer because it reminded me of a pj set. I paired it with my flowy cardigan that reminds me a bit of a dressing gown, and to top it off with some luxury, I threw on one of my grandma’s old stoles.
As for my hair, I am very much into above the eyebrow bangs, so I swept my overgrown front bangs to the side. It’s going to take me some practice to get the perfect Audrey bouffant, but I did my best to add some volume to my hair. I love the idea of pigtails, especially after finding this photo of Brigitte Bardot and of course seeing Audrey’s hair in that perfect final scene in Tiffany’s. They are very playful, and I think adding a bit of volume makes them more grown-up.
