As a kid, I was a sweatshirt aficionado – Northern Getaway, Boca, Maryk & Co., GAP; if a clothing line made a sweatshirt, I had one. {Or two.} I practically lived in a vintage UBC hoodie in eighth grade. But after that year, the sweatshirt gradually disappeared from my wardrobe, replaced by cosy turtleneck sweaters and the occasional cashmere cardigan. I had completely stopped considering sweatshirts as a fashion option – but all that changed when Les Composantes debuted their final collection, which included the La Superbe sweatshirt. I loved it. I wanted it. I needed it. And, because of the limited quanities Les Composantes produced, I thought I had missed out… until Ian surprised me with one at the last boutique ephemere. My sweatshirt and I have been inseperarable ever since; I can’t properly articulate why, but I just feel really good whenever I put it on. {And yes, I have definitely more than once announced, “I’m La Superbe!” while wearing it.} I’ve had some of my happiest moments in sweatshirts… although my styling choices are decidedly different now that I’m older. I replaced the leggings I used to love with a very sparkly mini from Chicnova – because if anyone ever said sparkle can’t be casual, they were totally wrong.
