I’m a fashion addict… That’s a fact.
I spend 90% of my money, time, energy and creativity in it.
I would die if all of a sudden this would be brought away from me, and after growing in a family where cloth is the only conversation (all my family works in fashion shops) i’m not really sure i’d be able to start any different career.
But the truth is that there is a big difference in what fashion is and what trends tell you to believe in.
You remember the TOP moment of the pussy rise low waist jeans? That moment when you could see the tanga of all you friends every time they bent?
I was 15-16 at that time and wearing high waisted jeans, i thought it looked much better on my body shape and it was more in my style lines… Obviously i was OUT.
And the black “emo” style nailpolish? All my friends were crazy for it and after “The devil wears Parda” the dark nails became more similar to a law then a trend.
I was wearing white at that time, having to hear the same joke every day: “were you bored in class? Did you put whitebait on your hands?”
I could go long on my list of a minimum of 10 pages but i’m sure you would skip reading this post so i’ll stop.
At the end of it all the trends for which i had been teased arrived and this same people started wearing them, for 1 year obviously, not more cause the trends change fast and if you wanna follow them all you have to do is transform with them…
My suggestion?
STOP IT! STOP IT NOW! This is gonna bring you nowhere. Fashion is NOT wearing that Givenchy 10 cm nose piercing, or the terrible “sandal boot” that Prada launched on its last catwalk.
Fashion is not following the trends, it’s finiding your self, finding the way to dress how you feel, and evolving in your cloth like you do in your skin.
Have fun in it! Cause if you don’t enjoy it what are you doing it for?
After all this said, mixing sneakers and elegant pieces is in trend; DO IT NOW! :-p
