Staying true to what she does best, the Mara Hoffman F/W 2013 collection was filled with vibrant prints, fun combinations and wearable silhouettes. Yet, no matter how wild the color combinations or prints, there is something very accessible about the looks; just enough that you’ll get envy-ridden— not appalled stares walking down the street. And when your back is turned to them, the stares will keep coming as each piece in Mara Hoffman’s F/W ’13 collection pays just as much attention to the back as the front.
Theme: “Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves” brings together lively prints in all forms: leopard, peacocks, elephants, psychedelic stripes, deco-inspired patterns and, my personal favorite, a cathedral window print. The collection is a mish mash of the prints and silhouettes that denotes the feeling of a gypsy’s wardrobe; taken along her travels and throwing it all on. Sheer dresses over pants, bomber jackets with loose pants; it’s a play on proportions in a very everyday-wearable, logical way.
Elements:Intricate beaded patterns, prints on prints and every color of the rainbow.
Beauty: Long slicked down hair with wavy, unkempt ends and bold cateyes.
Accessories: Coiled armor rings and cuff-necklace hybrid earrings by Pamela Love that I want to wear right now.
Stand-outs: All-seeing eye wrap cardigan, beaded heart chiffon gown, embroidered Suzani quithed bomber, and elephant print body con dress.
