The Christian Siriano Fall/Winter 2013 runway presentation was held over at Eyebeam Studios in Chelsea. The trek away from the Lincoln Center was worth it for the glamorous show we would experience. The start of the runway was decorated in luxuriously draped red curtains and three massive chandeliers and the lighting was saturated and red as well. The audience was brought into the world of a golden age at the Russian Opera with jewel toned colors and opulent fabrics.
Christian Siriano stunned again in his tenth collection, and after his victory on Project Runway, he still enjoys commercial success as well. The models all wore shoes from the Christian Siriano Gold for Payless collection, that matched the collection perfectly. The pumps, booties and tall boots that complemented the rich Russian clothing will be available in September for prices as low as $30.
Trends
- Illusions – The illusion neckline was prominent in the dresses, with a skin-toned mesh covered in intricate beadwork. The piece de resistance of the collection was an illusion neckline taken to the extreme, where the entire bodice of the dress was made from the transparent mesh and the model wore a matching birdcage veil with the same beading. It didn’t hurt that the model wearing the dress was the fiercest babe on the runway, literally smoldering as she slowly walked and flashed her bedroomy eyes at the barrage of cameras at the end of her walk.
- Gilded in Gold – Gold on black has been a huge trend since the Dolce and Gabbana Fall/Winter 2012 collection of old world Italian luxury. In Christian Siriano’s evening at the opera, black wools, silks and tulles were accented with gold filigree. Capes and peplums were decorated in gold swirls and full outfits were made in gold with even more gold beading and embellishments.
- Feminine Suiting – Regal fabrics composed beautiful separates that redefined the power suit. Embossed fabrics, glimmering coatings and printed silks made for powerful statement suits that were dripping in warmth and luxury. Full matching pant suits will be a big hit in the spring, and now we’re seeing a continuation into the colder months with similar silhouettes in richer fabrics.
Beauty
The models were rocking a dramatic smokey eye and understated lips with stunning braids that sat at the nape of the neck, making for a polished and sophisticated look.
