As we arrived at the Theatre at the Lincoln Center for the Hervé Léger Fall/Winter 2013 runway show, we couldn’t help but notice that the venue was absolutely packed. Jessica Hart, Petra Nemcova and Coco Rocha were in the front row, amongst a theatre packed to the brim with over 1000 guests. Dozens of show-goers were spotted in the signature Hervé Léger body-con dresses.
Designers Lubov and Max Azria made the bandaged body con look iconic and continue to create clothes for the fashionista that dares to bare, but this time around, they managed to cover up more skin and still maintain the brand’s signature sex appeal. This collection boasted longer hemlines, more layering and baroque style prints that all kept the Hervé Léger signature bandaged yarn fabric looking fresh.
Trends
- Sporty Chic – Almost every model was sporting a baseball cap on the runway. A long standing street style favorite, the chic sports cap has made it’s way into the fashion books and is here to stay. The Herve Leger take on the cap was definitely a sophisticated one; with solid dark colors and simple leather detailing, even those who weren’t on board with the trend should be coveting the look now.
- Bondage Babes – As a continuation of the bondage infusion in the previous collection, there were numerous looks that featured leathery coatings and intricately cut leather harnesses. These bondage style belts worn over dresses and under fur jackets, are a not-so-subtle hint of sex, perfect for the confident female they’re designing for.
- Dresses over Pants – While Hervé Léger is known for making the ultimate sexy dress, they decided to finally cover their girl up a bit more this fall with some layering. Sleeves were long and nary a bare leg was in sight, as every model had leggings or pants layered under the dresses. A questionable trend that never seems to escape the handle of being frumpy, might finally catch on with this sleek undertaking.
