It was clear as we rounded the corner towards the “Box” stage at the Lincoln Center, that we weren’t just going to any fashion show. Guests were lined up for nearly the duration of the entire Charlotte Ronson Fall/Winter 2013 presentation and what was originally scheduled to be an hour long, was extended to an hour and a half, clearly because of how many attendees came out, even during a massive blizzard!
Samantha Ronson, DJ and sister of the designer was spinning tracks in the corner and played dreamy old school tracks like “Downtown” by Petula Clark, to set a feminine and retro mood. The models were lined up along a stage and they took turns walking a mini runway. The collection displayed earthy greens and blues and boasted a school girl charm, with a touch of cool downtown chic.
Trends
- Reflected Digital Prints – With a backdrop of forested tree silhouettes in monochromatic blues, greens and a simple black and white; the collection showed the same digitally printed aesthetic. A trend that doesn’t seem to be losing steam anytime soon, reflected digital prints were seen on dresses, pants, tops and even on the adorable messenger style handbags and backpacks.
- Colored Leather – Rich eggplant purple and forest green leathers added a saturated twist to your typical black and brown hydes. The bright jewel toned leathers in loose fits were paired beautifully with prints and contrasting fabrics for comfortable fall looks.
- Sporty Chic – It looks like the Spring/Summer 2013 trend of sportswear inspired fashion, could potentially continue into the fall. While this wasn’t the most dominant trend in the collection, it was still apparent enough that we know that our sportswear investments won’t go out of style too yet. Sporty stripes on pants, crew neck sweaters with raglan sleeves, mesh elements and varsity style jackets were spotted and all were worn with a feminine flair.
Beauty
The models were sporting deep side parts and winged eyeliner, touching on a retro beauty look. They also wore solid manicures with contrasting outlines for a modern twist. Check out our tutorial on how to give yourself an outline manicure to get the look now!
