Totally Knocked Out= Me
The past few days I’ve been taking a hiatus since I have been confined in the hospital after having severe allergies to NSAIDS prescribed to me for my swollen ribs. I’ve always been allergic to aspirin and painkillers which is why it was silly that it was even considered as treatment when it made me more sick. Being confined in the hospital, no matter how boring it was, got me to rest and relax for sometime.
For chictopia veterans out there, this is actually a recycled outfit I already wore last November and decided to wear again last Monday to a photoshoot for our clothing line GLITTERATI at Luminosi Studio. It was just a stylishly comfy option I couldn’t pass up on!!!
Believe it or not this was my mom’s vintage dress that was really a night gown from Tokyo, Japan back when she graduated college in 1979, She was 21 years old yet wise beyond her years to know that a dress like this deserved a parade. Her prize for graduating Magna Cum Laude in BS Economics was a trip to Japan alone. It was too good an opportunity to pass….So she went. And this was one of the things she brought home with her.According to my mom this was a Japanese night gown (she found it in those Japanese silk shops) with Japanese designs of cherry blossoms and bamboo print in chiffon. The fabric is really soft when I felt it despite the 29 years for wear and tear and it’s not the traditional chiffon texture. It’s very light and airy. Almost like it’s nonexistent. That’s how light and thin it was!
She planned to wear it as a dress for fancy dinners back here since it was too nice to waste as traditional sleep wear, so she bought it, despite the very expensive price tag. And she did wear this to such occasions several times until she had to retire it. I found it in an old box of costumes in our attic and fell in love with the very intricate print and detail. It reminds me of that novel turned movie, Memoirs of a Geisha since it seems like something a geisha would totally wear. And when I wore it, it felt so elegant and soft. I could not help but move all gracefully. The dress needed to be worn with justice. I felt I didn’t deserve to wear it but it was tooo nice to pass up on. Made it more modern with accessories, a studded belt and studded shoes.

SONG INSPIRATION:
TKO by le Tigre
Want more real attention.
At my expense guess you forgot to mention.
You talk good,
I’ll eat glass.
I heard you read my mind behind my back.
Outside, I’m waitin’
by the car when you’re hesitatin’.
Take a good look.
Take a photo.
Write about it in your tiny notebook.
Don’t you know? You’re out cold.
Don’t you know? It’s our dance-floor!
T.K.O. Hear it on the radio.
T.K.O. Play it on the stereo.
T.K.O. Watch a live video.
T.K.O.
T.K.O-O
Oh, oh..
Oh, oh..
Got your money safe.
Wanna be “In”.
Everyday it just gets closer to you.
I say my piece,
And when it’s over, you’ll be on your knees, I..
got this soul thing on the go -ho.
Read about it at your Barnes & Noble.
Don’t you know? It’s our dance-floor!
T.K.O. Hear it on the radio.
T.K.O. Play it on the stereo.
T.K.O. Watch a live video.
T.K.O.
T.K.O-O
Oh, oh.
Oh, oh.
Night is young
And we all know what’s up
Beyond the setting sun
The ocean calls us
away from…
(sample overlay)…
Don’t you know? It’s our dance-floor
Oh-oh
Oh-oh
