cocoandvera 's Thoughts:

Let’s talk about shopping diets, shall we? I remember when I first heard the term, it sounded clever – easier said than done, but clever. I’ve been on many shopping diets over the years, very few of them truly successful. {As Oscar Wilde said, “I can resist anything – except temptation.”} It’s only in recent months, now that I have a clear mind and an open calendar that allows me time to be truly reflective, that I’ve wondered why I allow shopping diets to become necessary. Why am I shopping in a way that is bad for me? How can I allow an activity that brings me so much joy to become self-destructive? I don’t have all the answers, but what I do know is that going forward, I will not approach new purchases in a way that forces me to ask the questions – I will be deliberate, conscious and reflective in how I approach adding to my wardrobe. I want to increase the quality of the things I wear, not necessarily the quantity. I want to support independent boutiques and designers. And most of all, I don’t want to have feelings of guilt associated with something I love – from now on, there will be no more shopping diets. I won’t need them.
