A quick interview with the talented designer:
1. What inspired you to design clothes?
Movies and music, we started our first collection based on the whole futuristic world that was envisioned in the 70s sci fi movies. The bad special effects and the idea that we will be living on Mars and on the moon by the year 2000, Barbarella,
Los Astronautas, mexican sci fi movies, Kubrick, etc. From that we came out with the name, Miss Mars.
2. Do you make it yourself?
Miss Mars is 3 of us, Priscila Gonzalez, Marcela Viejo, and myself Elena Montalvo. We 3 design everything and we have an amazing dressmaker that helps us construct our pieces.
3. Who’s your style inspiration?
Old hollywood celebrities.
4. Who do you envision wearing your clothes?
Our aim is to create wearable and reachable clothing that can be used by everyone everywhere who likes it. We want to make stuff thats accessible for everyone and kind of embrace the vintage fashion sense adopted to the actual life and actual bodies. Its a small tribute to fantastic pieces from the past, recreating and redesigning old dresses that should never be forgotten.
