I haven’t really been posting here recently since I’ve been dealing with health problems including a swollen left rib that hurts like hell. On top of that, I have been dealing with the worst kind of insomnia that involves me not being able to sleep for no apparent reason (if you must know, i do not take stimulants including caffeine and cola since it is bad for my already problematic heart). Basically until yesterday, I’ve been up for 5 days straight unless you consider 2-3 hours of sleep every now and then as sleep compared to the actual 8-10 hours of slumber I was used to with all the antihistamines I am maintained on!
I felt like a zombie and basically floated through my day so the 30 minutes to conceal eyebags did not seem to be an appealing option for a chictopia post. So i took a hiatus.
On the 5th day, Saturday, I decided to ask for sleeping pills from my mum and took two and slept for 11 straight hours. It was beyond refreshing so I took my photo and decided i did not look as hideous anymore! Haha.
Anyway, this is a pretty basic outfit for a pretty basic Saturday afternoon. Black and red always appealed to me. The skirt is a fabulous highwaisted cotton tulip skirt I got from Moonshine which is quite amazing..I LOVE IT. Paired it with my basic camisole and new shoes from AmiClubWear.com.
I had to go to Glorietta (which I really really dread doing since I hate crowded places) to get masquerade masks, fabric and beading at Carolinas, which moved to the new Glorietta 5, across Rustans.
I finally got to cross the streets of Makati alone!!!
(I have this thing where I’m afraid of crossing the streets in my country since the use of pedestrian lanes are purely optional and stoplights are merely suggestions to drivers. No one really follows them back here.) And to my luck my heels got stuck in the grills of the ditches in the streets. It was very terrifying in that Jennifer Lopez in Wedding Planner sort of way and if I had to choose between life and my new shoes, I’d choose life anyday. I may love to shop but I am still smart enough to know there’s no use of saving a shoe when you won’t be alive or won’t have a foot to wear it with. Thank God I got to remove it way before a car had to pass by!
Anyway, this weekend was a week of discoveries. For one, me and my soul sister Nina were insulted by someone we were more than willing to help out (with certain limitations of course as is with any business deal). It’s funny really how words and actions are misinterpreted and even twisted by those whom you thought were friends for their own personal gain. The thing is, such people believe what they want to believe even if it was based on no concrete truth or fact but rather on figments of their imagination. They just conclude things in their heads and share it to people who are even less credible and probably as delusional as they are.
We just decided to take the insults in and let it go. If there’s one thing I learned from being so close to death every single day, it’s that life’s too short to waste on those who are not worth it. That person has already prove she isn’t… and it was sad but I think it would be even sadder to retaliate and tell your side to a person who in the first place did not bother hearing it before defaming your name and spreading gossip around like wild fire.
If anything this was a blessing because I got closer than ever to my friend and realized that at the end of the day, I am still lucky to have trusted friends I can treasure.
“If I were asked to give what I consider the single most useful bit of advice for all humanity it would be this: Expect trouble as an inevitable part of life and when it comes, hold you head high, look it squarely in eye and say, ’This too shall pass, I will be bigger than you. You cannot defeat me.”
Class is an aura of confidence that is being sure without being cocky. Class has nothing to do with money. Class never runs scared. It is self-discipline and self-knowledge. It’s the sure-footedness that comes with having proved you can meet life. At the end of the day, I have today, I have yet to meet life, but I do not run scared. Someone once said, “Know when to tune out, if you listen to too much advice you may wind up making other peoples mistakes.â€
From the backstabbing people you trusted to the meddling bystanders, you are in charge of how you react to the people and events in your life . You can either give negativity power over your life or you can choose happiness instead
(I choose happiness!). Take control and choose to focus on what is important in your life. Those who cannot live fully often become destroyers of life.
Cheers. I just needed to let it out. xx
