It’s the new year which means… New Year’s resolutions! For some of you that might be to hit the gym every day, get a new look, drink more water, or blog more. We decided to ask Chictopia’s staff, editors, and members what their “chic” New Year’s resolutions are for 2013. Get some resolution inspo below!
Contributing EIU Editors & Bloggers…
Iris & Daniel, EIU Contributors
Iris: “My new years resolutions are to experiment with makeup, resist any urges to cut my hair, read and learn more about fashion, and discover new music and bands.”
Daniel: “In 2013, I want to read more fashion books, just get more in depth learning about fashion in general, watch more movies, and to put more effort into school.”
Blair B., EIU Contributor
“I’m jumping back into my yoga routine after falling behind last year. I eat quite healthy (vegan), but it’s when I exercise regularly that I truly feel well-balanced. This year I’m also determined to brush up on my “techie” skills such as web design/development, photography, etc. Going to get my nerd on in 2013!”
Reinaldo I., Blogger
“My New Year’s resolution is to eat healthier by cooking more, stick to a workout regimen, and visit Italy in the summer.”
Lipgloss and Black, EIU DIY Contributors
Samantha: “My new year’s resolution has to be to adjust my sleep schedule. I’m a night owl and I love to work between the hours of 12am and 5am. I think it’s about time that I start waking up to enjoy the sunlight rather than sleeping through it. My motivation is the fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day of course!”
Sylvia: “My resolution for 2013 is to spend less money on throwaway fashion. I hope to change the way I think about shopping by spending on higher quality investment pieces and better basics. Hopefully with a mantra of quality over quantity, I can save money by buying less!”
Barbro A., Blogger
“I don’t really believe in New Years resolutions because they always seem to get broken or forgotten. My lover and I decided to have a reverse kind of resolution instead. It’s to travel more.”
Hallie S., Blogger
“Nothing fancy but try to make my life happier. At least 30 mins exercise, 3 times per week. Always kiss my husband and son before sleep every night and tell them I love them. And try to visit at least one new blog everyday and say ‘Hi’.”
And from yours truly, the people behind Chictopia!
Helen Z., Founder
“Have all 2 million visitors that come to Chictopia monthly download our iPhone app. Make my cat lose 2 pounds (he’s 17 pounds right now). And swim at least twice a week.”
Corinne C., Founder
“Simplify my life and eat healthy.”
Abigail H., our Marketing Girl
“Have my “drink” be bourbon on the rocks (and not make a disgusted face when I take every sip). Start a trend (maybe make frizzy hair cool so I save money on hair products). Wear heels, and actually only give my number to guys taller than I am in them. “Accidentally” fall into a handsome stranger’s lap on Muni. Make Macklemore my boyfriend.”
Jack H., Engineer
“I want to learn to play guitar. I also want to learn iOS and Android programming.”
Libby K., Designer
“Cook more! I hate cooking but I’m going to force myself to cook something else besides pasta at least once a week. Also be more refined! I’m turning 26, so this is the year I’m going to own my first set of wine glasses. I have to learn the difference between merlot and pinot noir. It also means I have to stand up straight and pay attention to my posture. This is the year I turn into a lady.”
Annie S., Sales Girl
“Get more sleep, volunteer, budget budget budget, take more weekend getaways (budget friendly, of course), learn (re-learn) how to play the guitar, and count my blessings EVERYDAY and continue enjoying the little things in life that make it sooooo sweet.”
Amethyst W., Assoc. Editor
“That I get a new ‘thing’. I started denim Mondays at the office for a while, but I think I should start animal print Thursdays or something. Also, I want to change my hairstyle. Pull a Britney minus the shave.”
