Searching for the perfect leather jacket is kind of like looking someone to marry-if you do it right you’ll only ever need one. Printed muscle tees, on the other hand, can more or less be bought in bulk, at least that’s basically my ideal method of shopping for such sleeveless clothing items. I might just be addicted to the extent that I expect to walk into an intervention every other time I come home. Getting to a point. Vegan biker-style idealization for me is embodied in this Topshop jacket, which I think appears in an outfit post on here at least once a week. My obsession with it didn’t seem all that bad until I typed out that last sentence-I guess most of my wardrobe decisions are motivated at least somewhat by a manic proclivity. The part that I’m trying to get to, though, is that it’s 100% faux-the concept of wearing a cow’s epidermis or really fur of any kind just makes my skin crawl.
Maybe my next project should be replacing all of my cowhide accessories with more humane options…I’m not exactly sure I could part with my Alexander Wang bag, though. Why are so many of the really good designers so unaccommodating to vegan lifestyles? Hope that didn’t sound too tree-hugger extremist, but now you know where I stand on at least one not-so-hot-button issue. Does anyone have suggestions of decent, aesthetically well-planned vegan shoes/bags/etc.? Further more, how obnoxious was it that I ended my post with an only semi-rhetorical question?
