Any of you already over this whole getting dark ridiculously early thing? It’s driving me bonkers. I don’t mind the cold so much as I miss the daylight. As 5 pm rolls around I’m ready to hibernate. The other day I decided to try taking my first blog pictures with my new camera sans Mr. T. Previously when I’d taken photos by myself it was relatively simple: Just find a surface to place the camera, set the timer and run glide graciously into position. That’s how it’s done it right?!
After getting some errands accomplished I got around to important things like taking pictures of myself? Heh. It sounds funny to say that but needs must when my boyfriend photographer isn’t around. I’ve been using my new camera at a few recent events but this was the first time I attempted to take personal photos along with a tripod and remote control. Needless to say it was a learning experience. Things may have turned out better if Daylight wasn’t giving me the stink eye. I was chasing the sun, receiving odd looks from sidewalk strangers and carrying on an argument with my tripod and remote. Considering this “triple threat” I’m relatively happy with the way these turned out.
As to my actual look it’s one I’m sort of crushing on. I love these whimsical style sweaters and this one has a slight Pop Art feel. Keeping my skirt more basic allows it to really stand out. I’ve had this skirt for years and I love its lovely shape with pockets. I’m now on the search for something similar in a heavier fabric. In an effort to up the ante adding this sheer polka dot shirt and statement necklace were a fun choice. It has a strong shape and I find myself getting a lot of wear from it.
This is actually a combination I wore to work minus these FABULOUS pumps. In that instance I wore flat, black suede ankle booties (also cute) but I wanted to punch it up a bit. Being in need of a new pair of basic black pumps I decided to forgo basic black in lieu of these beauties. The gold tips make EVERYTHING look better, right?! The clutch was my moms and while I’ve used it for years it happens to be the perfect trendy accessory for the season.
I feel like I could wear this look for so many occasions and I love the balance of Retro and Modern pieces. What do you think? Would you wear this look? Next time I display my solo blog related photography skills hopefully my tripod and remote skills will have improved. Maybe this will lead to less perplexed expressions? Maybe. I couldn’t decide on a title for this post so I focused on 2 of the statements pieces here. Do you have a favorite? Is this a Heart Attack or Tipping Point. You Decide.
