I’ve been very very slow at getting my street style looks posted from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC; As soon as I got back home, it was business as usual and this, unfortunately, was low on my list of priorities. Alas, here’s my second look for you lovely Chictopians. I wore this one Day 2 of my fashion week experience as an editor for Chictopia. One of four shows that I was attending that day was Chris Benz; I have a major crush on his designs, so I was elated to get to cover his Spring/Summer 2013 Collection. I styled this look with him in mind.
The spiral top from the 90’s (that surprisingly goes with everything!) is vintage as is the wool plaid skirt. The skirt has a very Twin Peaks feel, and, appropriately, the first time I wore it was when I dressed as Audrey Horne for Halloween. I wore a gorgeous rhinestone bird vintage brooch (from my mom) as a hair pin. My shoes, though, are my favorite part of this look; Esska shoes was my “shoe sponsor” for NYFW and offered 5 stunning pairs from their Autumn/Winter ’13 Collection for me to prance around in from assignment to assignment for Chictopia. This particular wooden wedge style (called Cane) wins the award for the most “Who makes those shoes?” of my trip.
And in case you’re wondering, the Chris Benz presentation was delightful! The details in the S/S ’13 Collection were pretty-yet-unusual (on-purpose wrinkles, oversized sequins with crochet, etc.), yet the collection as a whole was totally wearable for Spring. A big plus: Susan Sarandon (who was at the show) liked my outfit and called me “adorable”. Eek!
