A runway moment that I may never forget was one at the Reem Acra Spring/Summer 2013 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week; Midway through the show, after viewing pieces that ranged from leather jackets with laser-cut details to fitted color-block body con dresses, a dress came out that sent an audible gasp through the crowd: A knee-length fitted dress with sheer nude sides. It made the likes of Robert Verdi and Fran Drescher (on the front row) perk up a bit and was surprising enough to make the not-so-shocking pieces to come a little more exciting.
Highlights from the Reem Acra S/S 13 collection include an array of sophisticated looks with contemporary touches; Form-fitting dresses with provocative sheer sides, a robe-meets-business pantsuit, swing dresses with bright colors and color blocking, a black-and-white skewed-polka dot trench coat, a gold beaded 60’s-inspired empire gown and a fitted point-collar dress laser-cut shoulders all made the Reem Acra show a must-see.
The styling of the sleek, modern ponytail with a red lip and minimal eye makeup added sophistication and class to even the most provocative pieces. The choice of point-toe pumps- some in bold hues, others neutral- and minimalist strappy heels in metallic finished off each look perfectly.
