The first fashion show that I attended was a major one for me: Carolina Herrera; One of my personal fashion icons and with collections that never disappoint, attending her Spring/Summer 2013 show was a treat and then some. Before the show began, I caught glimpses of some uber stylish people; Ivanka Trump, Bianca Jagger and Julianne Hough appeared front row each in eye-catching, classic looks. The collection maintained that signature Carolina Herrera elegance with a mix of flowing and perfectly-tailored materials and surprisingly youthful details (color blocking, bold filigree prints and punches of tangerine). Fellow fashion blogger Carlie Wilson from Carlie & Style caught the show and thought it was “pleasantly surprising…with elegant-yet-fun pieces”. It was rather refreshing to see such an energetic palette from the usually sophisticated-to-a-T collections of Carolina Herrera.
After the show, the amount of style from those exiting the venue was enormous and ran the gamut from outrageous to classic. Larissa Muehleder (cover photo, left) wore a look by her own collection, Muehleder; Her neutral dress with a grid-like bodice mirrored by grid tights made for a stand-out look that can only be described as otherworldly. Her friends (also pictured), looked equally bold- and adorable- in their line-laden looks. More grid-clad ensembles appeared outside of the Carolina Herrera show, some paired with polka dots and other more subtly placed. Refined, neutral looks were abundant as well (as expected at a Carolina Herrera show); From wide-legged khaki trousers with classic button-downs to pale pink pantsuits. It was a stylish event from beginning to end and a fantastic start to my fashion week excursion.
