What was on Charlotte Ronson‘s mind when she designed her Spring/Summer 2013 collection? The cooler than thou girl who’s sexy, girly, and athletic all at the same time. With celebrities like Paris Hilton, Nylon’s Cory Kennedy, Rachel Zoe, Russell Simmons, and Kimora Lee Simmons front row, we were left to wonder… what has Paris actually done in the last few years to invite such an swarm of paparazzi? And when did the show begin before the clothes came down the runway?
Wait…got off track there for a second! Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week had a fun show tonight, albeit off to a rocky start with people yelling at the paparazzi to move away from the stage. Luckily, Ronson’s signature edgy and fun style really takes you “back to cool” and makes you forget about the celebrities in the front row.
Varsity inspired jackets, backpacks, large totes, totes that change into backpacks, checker pattern, track shorts, cut out dresses, and wedges with undertones of the sea rocked the runway. A favorite look was the daisy printed apron dress with a tie in the front, giving off a cutsey school girl vibe.
Hints of peplum and sweet skater dresses were scattered throughout the collection, but what really ruled the collection were the clear and ocean vinyl varsity jackets. All eyes were on the models who walked out in these jackets paired with organza and tri-color blocking silk track shorts.
So what stood out most from Ronson’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection?
→ Athletic-inspired wear isn’t going anywhere apparently. Sport chic seems to be sticking around to Ronson with track shorts, sportif vests, and varsity jackets sticking out the most tonight.
→ Vinyl material seriously put a whole new twist to the old school varsity jackets. We’re pretty sure everyone’s going to be dying for these! Psst… We wouldn’t mind a pair of shorts in clear vinyl either.
→ Pastel and ocean hues went against the athletic theme, softening it quite a bit.
→ Big slouchy totes and backpacks took as back to our high school days. The herringbone striped tote/backpack was our favorite!
→ Cut-outs in tank tops and dresses revealed a sexier look for what would otherwise be just a typical girly outfit.
