Making this skirt was the best part of my day. I was playing around with some cheap fabric I have (this damask was on sale for 2.50/yd at Joanns), experimenting with circle skirts. A friend commissioned me to make her 8-year-old daughter a princess dress for her birthday, and to me ‘princess dress’ means ‘hime lolita’ style – circle skirts, tulle and ruffles.
Today was busy – it started with me working the early shift at the lab (where I’ve been told to wear scrubs because I dressed ‘too cute’); I ran a bunch of errands, during which I found this shirt for $2 at Mardens new, RTP $80, making it one of my best finds; went home, made dinner, tried to snuggle with the husband who pretty much immediately fell asleep as soon as he laid down, so I got up and made this skirt out of boredom. I guess I’m glad he fell asleep :)
hoping this doesn’t get all wonkey in the wash, as I was too impatient to wash the fabrics beforehand. also hoping the peanut butter i smeared on the shirt within 40 minutes of wearing it comes out!
